Ruby could handle any Soul style her producers threw her way, be it driving dancefloor stompers or pure torch balladry, but she had a way of infusing everything she did with a great sense of emotion. It's the same kind of emotive, Deep Soul sweep that was buried so heavily in Curtis Mayfield's recordings, perhaps it's the Chicago factor!! Whatever the case, this is wonderful stuff, essential to anyone interested in the best late 60´s and early 70´s female Soul!!
